Akwa United have successfully completed the signing of Super Eagles and former FC Barcelona Team B Forward Ezekiel Bassey . Bassey who played for Enyimba International before traveling to Spain may be available for selection in a rescheduled NPFL game against El-Kanemi Warriors on Thursday. It will be the player's second stint with the club and he has been assigned jersey No 10.

Akwa Ibom State governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel has inaugurated three road projects in Uyo local Government area. The roads inaugurated by the Governor are part of the 28 internal roads to be commissioned in Uyo which are aimed at opening up the communities to the centre of the state. *Ettebom Eshiet emerges Clan Head elect of Ikono-Ibom* Ettebom Sunday Reuben Eshiet, the village Head Ikot Ebo-Ikono, moments ago, emerged the Clan Head elect of Ikono Ibom Clan of Uyo local government area of Akwa Ibom State Eshiet scored seven votes to defeat Etteidung Eseme Nelson Obot of Anaan-Ikono who scored four votes and Friday James Umo of Ikot Offiong-Ikono who scored one vote. Eshiet replaces Edidem Silas Akpan, the late Clan Head of Ikono-Ibom and Paramount Ruler of Uyo, who hailed from Ikot Odung-Ikono. The election which held at Community Secondary School, Ikot Oku Ikono, on Friday, had Obong Ime Ekpo, President of Ikono-Ibom Development Union, as Returning Officer. There are 18 villages in Ikono-Ibom Clan. Twelve village heads, including the three contestants, voted at the election. The Force Headquarters, Saturday night, paraded four persons arrested in an Abuja hotel with result sheets of last week’s ward congress in Imo State.  Visible among the suspects was one Engr. Ipanesie Innocent, a Special Assistant to Senator Hope Uzodinma on Electoral Matters. The suspects, who were paraded at the Force Headquarters by Mr Jimoh Moshood, Force Headquarters’ spokesman, were picked up in a hotel located in Wuse 2 area of the Federal Capital Territory. The suspects’ name were given as Engr. Ipanesie Innocent, 39 years,from Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State; Kelechi Alfonne, 37 years old, from Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area of Abia State; Lawrence Archibong, 34 years old, from Akpabuyo Local Government Area of Cross River State and Joseph Martins, 28 years old from Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
