“SHOW OF SHAME”: STUDENTS CONVICTED FOR DETAINING DISGRACED LECTURER A magistrate court sitting in Ekpoma, Esan West LGA in Edo State, has sentenced two graduates of Ambrose Alli University, sisters Judith Ivie Okosun and Juliet Obehi Okosun, to jail for unlawfully detaining and indecent assault on Dr Peter Otubu, a lecturer in the Department of Electrical and Electronics. Chief Magistrate Maltina Iluobe, in charge sheet No: MEK/18C/2012, committed Juliet Obehi Okosun to two years imprisonment for unlawful detention of and indecent assault on Otubu. The other student, Judith Ivie Okosun, was convicted to a one-year jail term for the unlawful detention of the plaintiff in connection with a sexual harassment scandal, which led to the dismissal of Dr Otubu over seven years ago. Clean-Up Nigeria, an organisation championing the protection of the environment, has rated Akwa Ibom State as the neatest State in Nigeria. The scores/rankings: Akwa Ibom (78.2%); Cross River (64%) and FCT (58%) The 768-page study titled: “Clean-Up Nigeria National Technical Working Committee Report on the state of the nation’s cleanliness performance ratings for states of the federation, state capitals/cities in Nigeria”, was conducted from October 2017 – October 2018. The report isn't so kind in discovery to 3 states as it has Kogi, Osun and Nasarawa States being “the three dirtiest states in the country.” People with healthy eyes and healthy minds, and who travel, will confirm this report. *Ettebom Eshiet emerges Clan Head elect of Ikono-Ibom* Ettebom Sunday Reuben Eshiet, the village Head Ikot Ebo-Ikono, moments ago, emerged the Clan Head elect of Ikono Ibom Clan of Uyo local government area of Akwa Ibom State Eshiet scored seven votes to defeat Etteidung Eseme Nelson Obot of Anaan-Ikono who scored four votes and Friday James Umo of Ikot Offiong-Ikono who scored one vote. Eshiet replaces Edidem Silas Akpan, the late Clan Head of Ikono-Ibom and Paramount Ruler of Uyo, who hailed from Ikot Odung-Ikono. The Force Headquarters, Saturday night, paraded four persons arrested in an Abuja hotel with result sheets of last week’s ward congress in Imo State.  Visible among the suspects was one Engr. Ipanesie Innocent, a Special Assistant to Senator Hope Uzodinma on Electoral Matters. The suspects, who were paraded at the Force Headquarters by Mr Jimoh Moshood, Force Headquarters’ spokesman, were picked up in a hotel located in Wuse 2 area of the Federal Capital Territory. The suspects’ name were given as Engr. Nigeria Police Force allegedly apologises to IBB's spokesman The Nigeria Police Force has apologised to Kassim Afegbua, the spokesman of Nigeria’s former Military President, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, for declaring him wanted. The apology was tendered on Wednesday when Afegbua went to the Force Headquarters to turn himself in after he was declared wanted by the Police via a statement by the  Force Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Moshood. Afegbua was informed that all that the police wanted to achieve was to find out why there were two different statements in the name of Babangida in one day. Moshood said the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, declared Afegbua wanted in connection with a statement he issued on behalf of Babangida on Sunday. The Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris has reportedly ordered for the arrest of the media aide to former President Ibrahim Babangida, Prince Kassim Afegbua for the statement he issued on behalf of his boss. This issuance of the warrant of arrest was disclosed by a Presidency source on Sunday. Afegbua in a statement purportedly issued on Sunday on behalf of Babangida had quoted the former President saying that President Muhammadu Buhari should not seek for reelection in 2019.
