Restructuring of Market: Uyo Council Boss shuts down sections of Akpan Andem

Uyo Council Boss shuts down sections of Akpan Andem Market for restructuring.

...Police Station, Fire Service Station, Admin office regain access Road.

Late last year shortly after assuming office The Executive Chairman charged traders doing business on the road sides, on drainage and access paths to evacuate their wares as they would be cleared by January 15th 2018

These were in line with his vision to bring back the original outlook and plan of the market to enhance greater commerce thus boosting the economy!

Sequel to this, the Chairman of Uyo Local Government Council, Elder Imoh Okon has swung into action as he ordered a temporary closure of some sections of the market for clean up and evacuation of tables and kiosks on the internal roads within the market.

The Chairman while flagging up the cleaning up exercise said contrary to doubts and disbelieve by some people that his mission to restructure the market will not see the light of day, he has 'taken the bull by the horns' as he flagged off the restructuring exercise.

He said by the end of the exercise, the market will return to its initial status of a city market, a development he said will boost business in the market and make the market attractive to investors.

Urging traders and buyers to coorporate with his administration to reposition the market, the Chairman picked up spade and jumped into the gutter to exemplify the evacuation of waste in the gutters around the market and total cleaning of the market.

Elder Imoh Okon called on the Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Environment to come to the aide of the market operators, saying that the level of waste and dirtiness of the market requires support of the Ministry of Environment.
